Work- Life Balance has been a used term now a days and very popular to the millennials. It defines as a proper partition of time for career, family and lifestyle. This is how an individual can balance the both time and how the impact to one another. According to Ellen Kossek and her colleagues a sustainable workplace is “one whose employees have the positive energy, capabilities, vitality, and resources to meet current and future organizational performance demands while sustaining their economic and mental health on and off the job.” Having a good work-lie relationship is not only benefits the workplace and the employer, it also gave a lot of benefits to an individual.
Benefits of Work- Life Balance
It is important that we can weigh the different aspects and activities that we have in life. Here’s three reasons why we should practice giving equal time to our career, family and lifestyle.
1. Increase Productivity
Most of the time people working in corporate tend to over work or extend working hours to accomplish work and finish deadlines. We tend to forget giving time for exercise or having fun with colleagues. When we balance activities in our life, it gives as good mood and more relax feeling. These results may lead to having a fresh mind and ideas that helps an individual to perform better in work.
2. Happier and Less Stress
When you know that you are having a productive week and perform better in work. You feel happier and less stress because you know that you accomplish task and able to finish it on time. Productive person may lessen having a stressful working environment because your mind is more focus and able to think clearer.
3. You Become Healthier
According to Lieke ten Brummelhuis and Nancy P. Rothbard research, Long working hours does not have any related issues with health but being workaholic does. Results shows that workaholic employees reported more health complains, sleep problems, emotional exhaustion and depressive feelings compare with workers who are not workaholics. Balancing working and lifestyle may help lessen chances of having a health complains.
